SALARY:  $12.50 hourly

DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for performing physical security duties at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during Major League Baseball games and other special events.
Selected applicants will work to maintain a safe and secure environment for visitors, tenants and employees of the Camden Yards Sports Complex. Applicants will be expected to provide unparalleled security services related to emergency response, protection of life and property, and loss prevention.

Duties include conducting fixed and mobile security patrols; monitoring life safety, access control, and camera surveillance and alarm systems; and observing and reporting suspicious activity.  Work hours vary and will include evenings, weekends and holidays in accordance with the home schedule of the Baltimore Orioles and other special events at the facility.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years experience in law enforcement, military or physical security.
Licensure: Possession of a valid driver’s license.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time and conduct mobile patrols.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprint check.

EVENT WORKERS (MULTI-TRADE)


The Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) is seeking qualified candidates for several Multi-trade Event Worker positions to begin work the first week in March 2012


Status: Part-time, Contractual (non-benefitted)

Hiring Range: $12.50 to $20.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience


Facility: Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Baltimore, Maryland

Work Hours: Hours for the position will be flexible based on needs of the facility and expected business levels and will include weekends, AM/PM shifts and holidays.
Typical Night Baseball Game Schedule, 3:00pm to 11:00pm.
Typical Day Baseball Game Schedule, 9:30am to 5:30pm.

Reports To: Manager of Baseball Operations & Events.

Summary: Position is responsible for responding to maintenance and repair requests throughout the facility during scheduled events. The position performs skilled work involving multiple trades in the troubleshooting and repair of buildings, equipment, and facilities during events. This is a technical as well as customer service position.

 

REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Incumbents in the position are expected to perform all of the duties described below). 1. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs and adjusts mechanical/electrical/plumbing/fire alarm systems, fixtures and equipment, drywall, furniture, shelves, doors, windows, and machines/equipment of various kinds. 2. Responds to elevator/escalator trouble calls. 3. Operates power equipment, forklifts, and aerial lifts. 4. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and have post high school training in engineering/maintenance related disciplines with three (3) years of relevant work experience. Recent work experience in public assembly or hotel/resort facilities is preferred.

2. Incumbents will be required to obtain forklift and aerial work platform certification and operate such equipment as required and assigned. MSA will provide the training and certifications.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1. Must have the ability to work a minimum of one game per homestand during the baseball season.
2. Must be able to pass an Individual Background Check for Employment Purposes.


 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
(The following generally describes the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required to enter the job or to be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned tasks.)

1. Ability to work in a multi-skilled environment including the ability to perform work across skilled trade crafts.
2. Ability to utilize tools, follow directions, maintain tempo, recognize quality, problem solve, exhibit teamwork, use interpersonal skills, and work safely.
3. Must be customer service oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a strong ability to multi task with proven detail orientation.
4. Ability to successfully work within a team environment as well as autonomously.
5. Ability to walk, bend, stoop and lift (up to 50 lbs.) repetitively and for extended periods of time.

 

NOTES
Event Essential Employees: Incumbents are considered “Event Essential Employees” whose duties require that they report for work at a scheduled event and remain at the work site throughout the duration of the event or scheduled work time. While no meal breaks are provided, significant compensated “down time” may occur during some events, wherein employees are required to remain on the premises to respond to on-site incidents, monitor work and event locations, and maintain a presence for public safety and security.

 

Uniforms: Incumbents will be provided a work uniform top and badge that identifies them as an MSA employee. Incumbents will be required to provide and wear long khaki colored pants, non-specialty safety-toe protective footwear (including steel-toe shoes or steel-toe boots) and all other ordinary clothing or other items used solely for protection from routine weather conditions such as winter coats, gloves, parkas, raincoats, rubber boots, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen.

3. Records all maintenance and repair requests in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for electronic distribution.

4. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of customer service or related experience. Must be computer literate and able to learn new software applications quickly. Recent work in a public assembly or hotel/resort facilities is preferred.

OVERVIEW

 

The Maryland Stadium Authority Ballpark Operations Internship is intended for college students who are planning to make sports management a career.  This is an unpaid internship working on game days in the Ballpark’s Facility Operations Department.

REQUIREMENTS

 

• Current student in college/university majoring in sports management with at least a 2.75 GPA
• Must be at least in their junior academic year
• Ideal candidates should have excellent communications, computer, and organizational skills
• Must be customer service oriented
• Must be able to walk long distances
• Must be available to work nights and weekends

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

• Completing projects that will tie in with academic studies and requirements.
• Compiling Safety & Cleanliness quality control reports.
• Reviewing daily maintenance log for trend analysis.
• Answering phones and dispatching maintenance requests from the help desk
• Assisting with daily administrative duties of the department.
• Assisting other departments as necessary.

Building Automation Systems Specialist

The Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Building Automation Systems Specialist.

 

SUMMARY
Position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks covering a broad range of functions involving the sports complex’s EMS Bacnet System, Microlite Lighting System, Fire Alarm Systems, and other mechanical systems.

 

REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

1. Performs technical support programs (TSP)/service agreement tasks and scheduled assignments to ensure that automation systems are properly maintained and operating correctly.


2. Handles emergency service calls as directed during the day and after hours.

3. Responds to customer service calls (emergency, on-site, or on-line), checks indicated points of trouble, analyzes full requirements of system involved and checks and tests systems components.


4. Diagnoses trouble or defect, determines corrective action and repairs system.

5. Performs preventative maintenance and diagnostics on automation systems and components according to TSP/service agreement contracts.

6. Tests and verifies system readings ensuring an optimal system operation.

7. Identifies additional chargeable opportunities including time & material work, system upgrades and service contact expansion.


8. Prices, proposes and proceeds with new work as per issued guidelines.


9. Completes service repairs, replacements, upgrades, adjustments and calibration on automation systems and components following issued tasking, maintenance, troubleshooting and installation instructions.


10. Performs system checkout and assists in automation systems startups for service installed jobs.

11. May coordinate electrical installation with electrical contractor at job site as required.

12. Completes and submits written service orders and reports covering all aspects of each assignment and activity.


13. Completes and submits timesheets and other necessary information weekly.

14. If improper operation is due to another system or component, discusses problem with customer and/or office and advises the best course of action.


15. Works with other agency or external service providers or vendors to arrange servicing and to resolve problem.


16. Participates in job site final walk and/or final completion for systems to service turnover on assigned jobs.


17. Delivers technical support, coaching and direction to end users and field labor when applicable.

18. Inspects, calibrates, repairs, and installs a wide range of control, sensing, and actuating devices.

19. Promotes, builds, and maintains good relations with the stadium community; keeps supervisor informed of stadium needs, systems status, and actual or potential occupant problems.

20. Provides analytical assistance concerning mechanical systems in buildings, Central Plant, other shops, and stadium departments.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
(The following generally describes the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required to enter the job or to be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned tasks).

 

1. Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid flow and the application of mechanical devices used for the delivery of ventilation, steam, chilled water, hot water, and humidification.


2. Knowledge of air and water balance procedures.


3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, schematics, ladder diagrams, and control sequences, which also may involve various software languages and formats.

4. Ability  to analyze complex control sequences and resulting operations, and to develop innovations that solve difficult technical problems.


5. Skill in dealing with building occupants, contractors, and consultants.

6. Ability to acquire, through training and on-the-job experience, specialized knowledge in rapidly changing technology and applications.


7. Skill in the use of personal computers; working knowledge of MS Office Suite (e.g., MSWord, Excel, Access, Outlook).


8. Skill in instrumentation and calibration techniques.

9. Skill in both written and verbal communications.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education, Experience, and Licenses:  VoTech certificate in control and automations systems or AA degree in a related field plus five (5) years of experience in controls/building automation systems OR any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Possession of a motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Preferred Qualifications:  Knowledge of automation systems, HVAC, electrical concepts, and building operations; working engineering and programming background; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; excellent verbal and written communication and customer relations skills.
